We think our drivers are heroes, but, if you ask they’ll tell you steering them to success is the Dispatch Team!
Dispatch supplies support and information to a team of 35 drivers (15 full time and 20 seasonal employees) facilitating the delivery of over 350,000 gallons of fuel with 521 deliveries, and 1,650 logged driving miles in route setups, per week during peak heating oil season!
Ed, Chad, and Todd – all members of our Dispatch Team, have over 40 years’ combined experience working in our state of the art dispatch hub at our John Street location.
Equipped with television to track the weather and dual monitors to guide trucks and their scheduled fuel deliveries, the most rewarding part of their job is keeping the driver’s delivery schedule tight and efficient to meet and exceed the customers’ expectations.
Ed Bitzel, a Tevis team member since 1982 says, “I’ve learned that caring for our customers and drivers go hand-in-hand. We sequence deliveries so that our drivers log the fewest number of miles possible. Efficiency benefits everyone.” Although computers assist them with doing their job, they personally review every delivery ticket ahead of delivery schedule and make adjustments to ensure deliveries are handled the best way possible.
They all agree a really good day is when they are alerted to a customer who is in need of immediate or emergency oil delivery, along with the drivers, are able to come through and serve that customer quickly!
Dispatch offers these tips to ensure the best possible service:
• After a snowstorm clear your driveway 11 feet across to accommodate a truck.
• Clear a reasonable path to your fill location.
• Let us know in advance if your fill location is difficult to reach in harsh weather.
