Abingdon is further inland than the APG, but it stills has access to great views of the shore at Bush River, another one of the Chesapeake Bay’s tributaries. Two of Maryland’s major roads, the John F. Kennedy memorial Highway (also known as Interstate 95) and Pulaski Highway (also known as U.S. Route 40), pass by on either side of Abingdon. However, the true center of the community of Abingdon lies at the intersection between Philadelphia Road (also referred to as MD Route 7) and Abingdon Road. There are a few businesses near the intersection, which include 7-Eleven, Abingdon Liquor, Harford Transit, McComas Family Funeral Homes and a Citibank ATM. Additionally, Cokesbury Memorial United Methodist Church and Cokesbury College Monument sit near by the center of Abingdon. Three of Abingdon’s primary neighborhoods include Abingdon Reserve, the nearby White Oak Crest and Woodsdale.
