Stevenson is home of the Mustangs and was recently known as Stevenson. It was first named Villa Julie College and had Roman Catholic heritage, originating from the Sister of Notre Dame de Namur’s mission to train women to become medical secretaries. In 2008, the name was changed to Stevenson in order to better represent the school and the community it served. Stevenson refers to the area of original found AND to Robert Stevenson, who the area was named after and who married Deborah Owings, a descendant of the founding father of Owings Mills, Maryland. The name had more ties to Maryland, the community and the values associated with the school. Stevenson’s motto is Latin and reads “Pro Discendo, Pro Vivendo,” which translates in English to “For Learning, For Living.”
