Street, Maryland is the actual name of a small community in Harford County, just south of Pylesville and directly north of Forest Hill! Street was also a stop of the Ma and PA Railroad, also known as the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad, until it stopped carrying passengers in the mid-1950s and totally shut down service in 1958. The Ma and Pa Line serviced Street through milepost 38.6, which stopped at the community of Highland Village within the borders of Street, Maryland. Street has managed to get three of its locations placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Col. John Streett House was added in 1973, while Mill Green Historic District and Gladden Farm were both added in 1993.
Street can be accessed by heading east off of Grier Nursery Road on to Street Road. The community’s center is probably best summarized by the junction of Street Road and Highland Road. Near this junction are locations such as Highland Park, the United States Postal Service, the Highland Library, the Highland Presbyterian Church, Highland Cemetery and Murolesto’s Sutdios, which is something akin to a night club and only operates from 9am to 5pm on Mondays. Enfield Farm is also located close by. There are not many businesses in the area, since Street is a very rural and residential community.
