Piney Run Park is a phenomenal location to take families or plan an individual trip to. It is home to all kinds of Maryland wildlife, including many interesting types of Maryland fish and birds. On top of its many hiking trails, you can fish for perch and trout (amongst many other types of species), spot birds such as the king fisher and bald eagle, kayak, canoe or visit the Piney Run Nature center and see all of its various reptiles, exhibits and rescued birds of prey. If you live in the area and are looking for a great outdoor experience for your children this summer, consider enrolling them in the Pine Run Nature Camp, which is an outdoor camp designed to teach kids K through 10 about the local environment and how the ecosystem functions. Additionally, if you complete the camp you may come back as a camp counselor and either volunteer for service hours or get paid experience with kids.
