Woodstock sits south-east of Marriottsville and finds itself surround by the same forest that Marriottsville is. Patapsco Valley State Park McKeldin Area and the Patapsco River that flows through it surround most of Woodstock, leaving it south-western border open. Woodstock can be reached by taking MD Route 125 OR by taking Interstate 70 to MD Route 99 and turning onto Woodstock Road, also known as MD Route 125. The land that is now called Woodstock was first settled through the work of Thomas Browne (or the Patuxent Ranger) and others by around 1702. The land was chosen due to the copious amounts of granite that were able to be mined in nearby quarries. These quarries attracted the attention of a railroad, specifically the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, to make Woodstock a stop so that the town could export its granite for a greater profit.
Woodstock is home to a few businesses, although it is mostly residential. If you are passing through Woodstock, consider dining at the Woodstock Inn, buying a guitar at Warden Customer Guitar, or getting a treat with your friends and family at The Snowball Stand. If you’re looking for a meaningful interaction with wildlife to pass your time while staying in Woodstock, Maryland, consider visiting Frisky’s Wildlife & Primate Sanctuary, the Howard County Conservancy, or the highly forested area near the Patapsco River. The road which branch off of Woodstock Road often lead to residential communities, so you should only go down these roads if you own a home or known someone living in Woodstock. These roads include Grooms Lane, Cavey Lane, Breezewood Drive, Browns Farm Road, Quarter Horse Drive and Saddlebrook Farm Trail.
