York, named for the location that exists in England, is one of the coolest cities in Pennsylvania! It sits between the Mason-Dixon Line and Harrisburg at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and Interstate Highway 83, acting as a kind of buffer on the way to Harrisburg. However, the City of York is so much more than a buffer. Sitting right below the beautiful Susquehanna River, York is comprised of Northern, Eastern and Western segments. At the entrance of Route 83 into York’s southern portion, one may pass Reservoir Park. The park exists right below York College of Pennsylvania, in addition to its West Campus. I-83 eventually passes by Penn Park, but before it does so it passes by Kissho Sushi, Colonial Coffee Shop & Donut, and Mi Caldero (all popular food locations). Eventually 83 begins to run parallel to Codorus Creek for a short time. The Water way cuts a diagonal path across the city, offering trails, museums and restaurants on its banks for tourists and locals to enjoy. Eventually 83 goes over Codorus Creek, passing the York Revolution Baseball Club Field. Once Interstate 83 crosses over Codorus Creek, you have entered into North York. An incredibly large cemetery, called Prospect Hill Cemetery, is located to the left.
York was once though to be the best candidate for the United States’ first capital. After all, the Articles of Confederation were brought to fruition in York and those involved in its creation used the name “The United States of America” for the first time. The people of York, known as “Yorkers,” understand that quality, integrity and efficient response are the key to building a successful foundation for life. That’s why if you live in York and need heating oil, you should place you trust in Tevis. Tevis Energy is founded on those pillars—all while ensuring our service is affordable.
